Sorry for the lack of post for a while. Things have been busy. The sickness lingered for a while in our house, but things seem to be better now (pending Sydney cold right now).
Sydney, Aubrey and Steve were very sick from the aftermath of the H1N1 virus. They were ALL on neb treatments for a while. They are suffered from coughing and tightness in their chest. With time, this got better...thank goodness!!
Sydney went to see the cardiologist about 2-3 weeks ago, and Dr Faltermen thought Syd's heart looked great on Echo, but her gradient was lower than the last echo. Dr F explained, Sydney lungs were so tight, likely infected , and air was not moving into them efficiently. This was causing her gradient to be lower. Her sats were also low---70. I was glad that Dr F got to see what I had been seeing. She was still in junctional rhythm, but the cardiologist decided to hold off on the halter monitor...feeling the information would be scewed by Sydney's illness. Dr F adjusted her meds(diuretics) again, by reducing it down to once a day. Dr F also wants Sydney to stay under lock down. I really thought this would change by now. Dr F said Syd's body had not had the time it needed to recover, because of the H1N1 virus. Dr Falterman hopes time will heal Syd.
After the cardiologist appointment, Dr F sent Syd to the Pediatrician office. She wanted a full medical work up--including blood work. It was decided , Sydney had Bronchitis and antibiotics were started. But the good news was that Sydney was no longer dehydrated from her meds! Yeah! All the pushing of fluids had payed off!
We continued to be busy giving antibiotics, neb treatments, pushing fluids(just less--30-40 ounces a day), and took her to the country to breath some germ free air. She enjoyed the freedom, and the lack of Purel. She looked so sick, pale, skinny, lacked energy, and her sassy little self was out of site. I really missed her.Within 2 days of med changes and nebs, Sydney turned pink !! It was amazing!! Also returning was Sydney's little personality. I felt so blessed!
We have continued recovery, tried to go outside when it was nice, to lift spirits and open lungs. Lots of catching up on my part has been needed, because I just did not have time for anything but taking care of my family. They are worth it though!.
I think we are on the up and up.
More updates to come.
