I had a few people ask if I would continue to keep this carepages going for Estelle, and yes, that is my plan. Once she has recovered, I will return to using this for Sydney.
Estelle is doing well, but as you know recovery is a process. Last night, she went into atrial fibrillation. "This is the most common cardiac arrhythmia (abnormal heart rhythm)and involves the two upper chambers (atria) of the heart. Its name comes from the fibrillating (i.e., quivering) of the heart muscles of the atria, instead of a coordinated contraction." The Dr Evan gave her meds to lower her blood pressure and heart rate (which was averaging between 125-155 beats per minute). A-fib bothered Estelle, because she could feel her heart working hard. The meds that were given helped, and decreased her heart rate and blood pressure. This rhythm issue was not a surprise to the doctors. This is not uncommon after someone had a cardiac arrest and needed to be "stocked" Her hearts is irritated from all that has happened to it and needs time to heal. Estelle, has some Atelectasis (small partial collapse--or known as "junk in the lungs"). This is also normal. With deep breathing and coughing this will improve with time. I know when Sydney was in the hospital, this always happened and also cleared up. Lastly, Estelle is holding some fluid, creating some wetness in the lungs. Lasix, a diuretic, has been given to help her get the extra fluid off. Again, all of this is part of the process. Estelle is recovering very well. She is VERY happy to be alive and with her friends and family. She is completely alert and aware of what is going. Dr White, Neuro) is very happy with her progress.
Please continue to pray for continued recovery. He is listening.
Love from all,
Christy for the Davis Family
