Little Sydney's color was so bad when we first saw her. It put me into tears. I had to straighten up before she noticed. Her O2 sats were disturbing at first...60-70's, but they did recover throughout the day (high 70's-low 80's). I know they will not get into the 90's until she has the fenestration closed...but that will be 6 months from now. Sydney has "junk in her lungs"---or slight partial collapse. She has had this before. Sydney has to breath deeply, cough and blow (she likes bubbles).
Sydney has been begging for fluid, but she had to take it easily at first. She has been able to keep down drinks, and even a little yogurt smoothie (which really made her day)!!
This evening, Sydney spiked a fever (101) that increased after Tylenol was given and the room was cooled (to 102). Please pray the IV Motrin helps with the fever and the pain. The doctors reviewed her blood work and there is an increase in white blood counts. They believe this may have begun before surgery. A broad spectrum antibiotic has been started (Ancef) through IV for the next 24 hours. If this does not work, then they will begin doing cultures (blood, urine,) to see what is going on.
The roller coaster continues for poor Syd. She is comfortable and sleeping at this time.
Thanks for checking in and please continue to keep her in your prayers.
Love always,
Christy
